The words and comments, the smirks and grins, the yelling and confusion, the put downs and the heartless remarks. They all cut you like a knife and leave behind scars that last a lifetime. They linger in your thoughts and mind and just won’t seem to go away.
So how do you finally put them to rest and quietly heal from the destruction and abuse that took place for so many years? One way is to stop letting your abuser do that to you. Stop giving him the knife and stop giving him the OK to keep putting you down and sabotaging your life. Walk away, ignore the remarks, set boundaries, stick up for yourself, and live a good happy life that he cannot interfere with. You have to set yourself up for a better happier life without the domestic violence of emotional and mental abuse. That means rising above everything he has said and done to you. Rising above the smear campaign he has run all across the community. And rising above all of the wounds that were inflicted.
Some ways that you can do this are by getting involved in activities that are refreshing and invigorating to you and your new life. You may want to start meditating or doing yoga. I have found both of these very helpful and very necessary in my journey to healing. Without them, I do not think I would have been able to even start this process of healing. They help you tune out all of the noise and clutter and to get back into yourself and your center. And to remain calm and in control of your life again. If you haven’t tried either one, you really should. I recommend doing a web search for the best yoga practices near you. There are many different types of yoga and each one is purposeful for different things. So you will have to find the one that best matches you and your personality and what you are looking to gain from it. There is no right or wrong practice. They are all great and unique. And each class will offer and teach you something new.
Keeping up with your daily diet and nutrition is also very important and crucial to your healing. What we put into our bodies, affects our bodies. And that is why it is important to eat healthy and to stay healthy. Daily exercise, whether it is walking, hiking, dancing, going to the gym, is absolutely critical and vital to helping you through these dark moments. So go ahead, go sign up for that Pound class you’ve been yearning to try!
Doing most of these things along with other more subtle things that I discuss throughout my website, will help you on your journey to healing. That along with the support and guidance of a few good people in your life and you will be on your way to a happier new life. A life full of love, health and vitality. A life worth living. A life full of no more pain or suffering and the overcoming of it.
